2005 Mazda RX8 from North America - Comments

"Make Sure You Have A Second Car!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

My Rx8 sucks!!! Transmission blew, motors been replaced

at only 15000 miles!!

Brakes are always noisy,

General comments?

No one knows how to properly care for a rotary powered car in north america, for starters they were meant to

burn oil,

secondly, in japan they have 108 octane gasoline right out of any local gas station!

The rotary motor only runs good on high octane gasoline

and at whatever climate japan is at.

No rotary has ever been reliable.

How many Rotary engines have you've heard making it

past 200,000k without a engine rebuild?

I'm sure there's a couple lucky souls out there,

for those who have made it that far... GO BUY A LOTTO TICKET ASAP!!!

I have a 2005 RX-8 and love it for all the reasons in the posts that are positive. Now I will comment on my 1986 RX-7 GXL, This car has kissed the 7000+ RPM red-line thousands of times, I have 184,000K miles on it. I have had clutch and transmission problems (135,000 miles) but the engine is still purring along. I am storing it for the winter for the first time in 22 years!

Water pump, brake rotors, U-joints lasted 165,00 miles.

What is wrong with that?

NEVER needed a alignment, had it checked once and it was good. Tires wear flat and It handles very well but not as good as the 8.

Lots of people in North America know how to and take care of their rotary engines very well. My 87 RX7 is on 228 000 kms and is on the original engine. You just need to learn about the engine and how it is suppose to work, just like you learned about a piston engine.
