2002 Mazda Xedos 9 review from UK and Ireland
"Adequate, but uninspiring"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The drive shaft is rattling.
There's a weird rattling noise when I first start the car.
The boot leaks.
General comments?
The car is OK, but considering the price of these things when new, and the market that they're trying to challenge i.e Mercs, Lexus and BMWs, there's just no comparison; the Mazda just doesn't come close.
It's quite comfortable and nippy, but it seems to have quite a lag on the acceleration.
I think it's quite a plain looking car, and the interior, whilst being comfortable, just doesn't smack of super quality, and the car certainly doesn't stand out in a car park.
As for the fuel consumption, sometimes I'm sure I must be driving a 6.0L V8 or someone's stealing from my tank, because it disappears at a frightening rate of knots, even when you're not pushing the car on.
All in all it's OK, but I won't be keeping the car, and I certainly wouldn't buy another one.
