1988 Mercedes-Benz 190 Diesel review from North America
"I love my Baby Benz"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Transmission seals were leaking
radiator had to be replaced
under seat fabric had to be replaced so that the seat could move freely
heater core replaced
electronic climate control system replaced
alternator went bad.
General comments?
The car is very comfortable with a small cushion for my lower back.
The car handles beautifully and is fairly quiet for a diesel.
My 190D is my daily commuter and I get between 32 and 35mpg in mostly highway driving at 65 miles per hour.
I replaced the speakers with Boston Acoustic S45's which fit with minor adjustments up front and the sound is outstanding with the original radio.
The car looks beautiful and is very classy. People see the star and take notice even though it is an old car.
I have been doing servicing at the dealer so I've spent quite a bit on the car. Basically I've paid the price of a new subcompact to have this car run perfectly.
