1987 Mercedes-Benz 190 e review from UK and Ireland
"Best car I have ever/will buy"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The only fault has been a fuel injection relay, but I fixed it myself. A dry-solder was to blame and apparently a common fault.
I had the timing chain replaced and the timing chain tensioner replaced for £200 because it was very noisy and I didn't fancy changing the engine if it broke.
The engine is starting to smoke under hard driving conditions, but it is high mileage so I accept this.
Typical axle whine.
Drivers seat thinning on the corner.
General comments?
I love the car both looks and comfort.
Mine has the cosworth/16v body kit, alloys and is gun metal grey.
Looks very genuine.
I also replaced the suspension springs for some lowered ones and it has transformed the looks and handling, but without sacrifice to the ride quality.
