2002 Mercedes-Benz A-Class Elegance review from UK and Ireland
"Treat the car rough and have fun for all that money you've wasted"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Squeaky interior (fixed)
Anti roll bar links wore out (fixed)
All the lacquer is falling off the wheels (blamed on regular curbing)
General comments?
Massive under steer in the wet. Terrably big turning cirle. Poor acceleration. The brakes shudder under regular braking. Noisey diesel engine by mercedes standards. Poor plastics used on the interior. The lights on my 1988 golf are more illuminating. No where near the quaility of a regular benz. High sided so watch out in the wind.
"Entertaining" ride. Powerful brakes and saftey mechanisms. 125mph on the motorway. Handles well at high speed with the added bonus that you can panic brake with no real risk (even in a corner). Petrol manuals are most entertaining which is why you should always ask for a loan car on services...
