OK I got this car as a high school graduation gift back in 2007. I wanted a newer W203 but did not get it. OK fine, so I come home and my parents traded in my old 1996 SL600 for a W202. Ughhh. What was Benz thinking when they built this piece of crap. Was it October fest in Germany or something??
This car is sooo bad that I refuse to drive it. The ride sucks; it's the most uncomfortable car I have ever been in. It's cramped. The steering is soo damn tight that I hate to drive it in towns.
The inside is a joke. All cheap crappy materials and the fake leather on the seats is a joke. The inside rattles and squeaks because it's made of cheap plastic.
The headline looks like something out of a cheap car. My sunvisor broke, my moonroof broke so now I don't have shade in the hot sun and the center arm rest broke.
I think the W202 is a rebadged something else with Mercedes emblems on it.
A week after I got the car, I went to trade it in for a W203, but my parents would not let me.
After driving the W203 I was soooo impressed. What an amazing car. It's like comparing day to night. Now 3 awful years of driving this piece of crap they finally came around to letting me trade in. Oh and BTW the car only has 86,000 miles. What a joke this thing is.
The only thing I like about it is that it turns on a dime and the brakes are amazing. Other than that, the whole car is junk.
Your 'parents' traded in YOUR SL600 and you are also surprised at having to change plugs at 60k miles on a C Class???
Now, that IS a joke... right?... LOL
It is to be expected when going from a benchmark auto to an entry level auto, that things will be vastly different between the two.
Spend your own money and then you can buy a car more to your liking.
It sounds legit to me. I can agree with this. 202 is a low point in Mercedes history I think.
Ha ha ha. This review is so true. I had one for my first car also and it was the worst car ever. It's also extremely booooorring to drive. Look at other entry level cars for the year 2000. A6 Audi or BMW 3 series. They blow this piece of crap out of the water. The 202 is like driving a Ford. Hard to even believe that one could walk into a Mercedes dealer and buy a SL500 and a W202 in the same showroom.
