The left rear brake light bulb seems to function only intermittantly since the car was acquired. Otherwise there have been no reliability problems.
The C240 is a very comfortable car to drive.
Performance is excellent, with the engine being brilliant. The straight six is smooth, refined, torquey, while still also being willing to rev high. Some combination.
The auto transmission is very smooth and works well with the engine around town/city driving, but can be a little reluctant to "kick-down" outside urban areas.
For long journeys, the car is very comfortable. Excellent seats support the driver in all the right ways and the cabin itself is pleasant and well made if a little bit plasticky.
Handling is not so sporty and geared more to comfort.
The steering is woolly when asked to take corners at high speed, and the whole car feels more comfortable when a relaxed driving style is taken rather than a "speedy gonzales" approach is taken.
In South Africa all C240's were fitted with the new MB V6 motors. Don't think there ever was a straight 6 2.4 from Mercedes. Great cars though!
