Glow plugs replaced (x2)
The car is very comfortable and a pleasure to drive. Although the engine is relatively small, the high torque means that it can be made to press on very well if the circumstances call for it.
Although it is coming up to 6 years old, it still feels like a new car and looks like a new car, apart from the inevitable few stone chips.
There is no noticeable driving or noise deficit compared with the saloon version, and the estate facility gets used very regularly.
The quality of the car is excellent and the reliability has been as one would expect of Mercedes - at least up to this model!
The only downside is that if the front passengers are tall, then the rear seat space is rather limited.
I have had a 1999 Mercedes c220cdi estate for the last four years and would recommend one to everyone. I have only replaced service items, tires etc. However I found the car a little sluggish when loaded so I fitted a 30% tuner box and took the bhp from 143 to 175 and it has made a big difference to the performance, but has made little difference to fuel economy. This is one retro I would recommend.
