1996 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Esprit review from UK and Ireland
"This car was everything a car should be capable, safe, comfortable and reliable"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The (British) alarm failed on one occasion (cost £70.00 to fix).
The catalytic converter failed at 110,000 miles (running repairs... new exhaust and cat. £300.00).
The Wiper motor failed at 119,000 miles (a clip fixed for £40.00 by a local specialist)
General comments?
This car was pure quality, everything worked as it should except the things listed above which was o.k. considering the age of the car and the lack of
service history.
This car had presence! and to think I changed it for an Italian car...
It was only a 1.8 petrol, but on a trip from France I recorded 42.3 mpg on the
return trip.
This car is sorely missed.
I will be buying another (2nd hand bargain basement) Mercedes soon.
