2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK 230 K Avantgarde 2.3 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A looker, but a poor quality one at that

Faults:

Electric Windows do not self close properly, keep opening at the end - Repaired 6 times.

ECU problem twice resulting in misfiring, Car has been away for over a week still not repaired.

Brake Squeal - In seven times, changed all the parts and still no luck, went in recently and was told modified discs were needed.

General Comments:

I have owned MB's before and never had a problem. This car has been awful.

I would not by a 4 cylinder MB again.

Quality is not good on newer MBs.

Poor dealer service. Took over a month to book in for a service, by the time had exceeded the service interval.

I've had poor service from a dealer, but will they do any thing? the best way is to place metallic signage on the car and drive it around the town.

MB has lost the edge in quality and service... sad to say others are better and cheaper.

2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK 200 Kompressor 2.0 Supercharged from Greece

Summary:

An excellent long-distance traveller on smooth roads, with a strong engine.

Faults:

Passenger side door requires a lot of effort to shut, but has not been properly fixed despite two visits to repair shop.

Driver's seat has started to wear noticeably, with sagging seat bottom leather.

General Comments:

Great high-speed stability, handling and grip.

Good gas mileage on open road.

Adequate seating for rear-seat passengers and large trunk- great for trips.

Good cabin and general build quality.

Very comfortable driver's seat.

Strong engine and good performance for a 2 litre.

Great low-RPM torque.

However, standing-start is almost always jerky with a lot of driveline shunt.

Useless in light snow without snow chains (thankfully it snows very little in Greece).

Wheel rim diameter is too large.

Cheap feeling climate control buttons for a car of its status and price range.

Crashes and booms on poor road surfaces on optional 17" tire/wheel package (standard suspension) better to stick with original equipment 16" wheels.

2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK 200 Kompressor from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Unparallelled driving experience and comfort in real style

Faults:

Self return on Electric Windows doesn't work properly.

General Comments:

It is undoubtedly the most solid yet comfortable car I have owned. Noise levels are low and despite being a stylish coupe there is plenty of room for two Adults in the back.

Will get an automatic next time around. Reverse is a little tricky.

2000 Mercedes-Benz CLK 2.0 supercharged from Greece

Summary:

Show-off serious coupe

Faults:

Nothing, it's made by Germans!

General Comments:

Status symbol sports coupe, ideal for touring.

Medium acceleration due to big kerb weight despite the powerful engine, quite fast though when the tachymetre pointer begins to rise.

Very beautiful vehicle both externally and internally.
