2006 Mercedes-Benz CLK 350 Cabrio review from North America
"A practical, quick convertible"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Seat belt sensors have gone out 3 times in four years.
A fan belt pulley was replaced.
Occasional electrical glitches fixed by the dealer.
I have dented wheels on four occasions and blown out a tire once due to driving through potholes, so the stock 17" wheels could be stronger.
General comments?
It has been a comfortable and reliable car.
The (first year in the USA) 7-speed transmission in my car feels like it shifts too lazily. I drove a new C-class as a loaner when I went in for service and the C-class's transmission seemed to shift better. I also drove an AMG SLK 55 for a while, and the transmission shift points were flawless in that car.
Convertible top works well and the heated/cooled seats are a good option.
Navigation is clumsy, but it works.
With the optional sport suspension the car is well balanced when driving fast.
The car is not hard-core sporty, but it is nice to drive.
