2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class avantgarde review from Belgium
"As good as it gets"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Absolutely nothing, but keep in mind that it's only 2 weeks old.
General comments?
This car is near perfect. The cabin is so silent, the engine runs beautifully, road handling is amazing. It's the first Mercedes I own, and it is miles and miles better than any of my previous cars (all Saab's). Don't get me wrong, Saab builds excellent automobiles, but Mercedes is much much better.
Mind you, the car isn't cheap, specially with the options I ordered, like leather comfort seats, dvd satnav, automatic gearbox, CD-changer, distronic etc. etc. etc. In fact, the car costs twice as much as my previous one, a Saab 9-3 2.2tid. And I have often wondered, whilst waiting to take delivery of the Mercedes, if it would be twice as good as the Saab. Well, after two weeks, already know for sure that it really is twice as better. I drive around 40000 to 50000 kilometers a year, and the E is perfect for long distance driving, due to the silence in the cabin, the magnificent seats and the performance of the engine.
Would I buy a Saab again? Probably not. Unless things go terribly wrong with the Mercedes, I do mean very very terribly wrong, my next car will be another E.
