Car rarely used, but don't recall anything ever going wrong.

MB use only timing chains, I think you should make sure ur driving the silver arrow!!
Pre 1988 E200 and E230 cars had a timing chain that HAD to be replaced at least every 60,000miles and required an oil change every 3,000 miles. Post 1988 cars had a 'duplex' chain that only requires replacement when the engine starts to become rattly. The MB logo is a star and not an arrow!!
