1989 Mercedes-Benz E-Class 260E review from UK and Ireland
"Its definitely a future classic"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The air conditioning system needed recharging at a cost of £60 now working fine, and the cruise control has a intermittent fault which I am currently trying to rectify.
A car of this age and mileage is probably not a good idea for people who don't have any mechanical knowlege or are on a tight budget, as its extremely expensive to have these cars serviced at Mercedes benz dealerships.
Having said that it is posible to run these cars on a very reasonable budget if you are the DIY kind of person, and parts don't necessarily have to be sourced at the dealerships.
General comments?
Other than the cruise control problem all the other toys on this car work perfectly well, its leather trim is in very good condition for a vehicle of its age and mileage.
So far I,am really impressed with every thing about it, given the age and the mileage of the thing! I,ve owned a lot of used cars and driven a lot of new ones having been in the trade, I doubt that cars will ever be built this good again.
