Drivers power window lift, sun visor panels detached, metallic silver paint has oxidized and clearcoat has burst in Southern California sunshine.
Great car, the model 126, the simple design of the components, well built, good fuel mileage. Traded back down from 1993 300SD, model 140 after a nightmare of problems, ie: blown head gasket, air conditioner coils rubbed on chassis till breakthru, 2 weeks and $6K of work to disassemble the interior dash board to replace a $160 part! New models are maintenance service whores!
Amen, brother!! Those W140s are known nightmares, including the gas versions too!
I love my 1996 s320 lwb. Agree that the design is favorable to the repair shop's revenue machine. A/C evaporator leaked... required removal of entire dash and $3400 cash to get back in the saddle. 107,000 miles so I hope to get at least another 150K out of her.
