1993 Mercedes-Benz SL 600SL review from North America
"Very expensive junk"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The entire electrical system is a disaster. Nothing seemed to work very long.
I drove the car very little, yet spent almost $7000 in repairs and was looking at much more when I finally traded it for a 2008 Corvette.
Interestingly enough, the Chevy dealer called me 2 weeks after the trade and asked my what garage had done previous repairs for me (I used the local MB dealer and also a retired mechanic from that dealership) as they had received an estimate of $5000 for a tuneup from a local dealer.
The car only ran right for about 3 weeks during the entire 2 years I owned it (two weeks after I spent the 1st $5000 and believe it or not the week before I was fortunate to trade it). It was always "missing", hardly any of the gadgets worked properly.
It was a solidly built car and was classic in looks.
General comments?
It was the very worst car I have ever purchased. Shame on Mercedes Benz for selling such a lemon.
