1998 Mercedes-Benz Vito 108D review from Singapore
"Not as good as it looks"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Radiator expansion tank leak.
Cooling fan blade broke while engine was running.
Drive shafts failed twice.
Wheel bearings failed at 30000km.
Air-con blower motor failed at 40000km.
Passenger power window motor failed at 60000km.
General comments?
This van is seriously under-powered.
From the specs, the engine produced 82hp to power a van that weighs 1490kg unladen.
The van had to be rev hard to get it moving from a stop.
However it seems to be happier on highway cruising at a 70-80kph speed.
I find the manual gearlever notchy.
The accelarator pedal is stiff and jerky.
