1981 Mercedes-Benz W123 200 review from South Africa
"A stylish and ultra reliable beauty"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The synchromesh on second gear broke.
Dashboard cracked of too much sun.
Carburetor blocked a few times.
General comments?
This is a most amazing car. It is remarkably reliable and comfortable.
The 2liter motor is a bit sluggish in a heavy motor like this, but it has got enough torque to move comfortably.
The car has got superb roadholding and handling, better than a lot of new cars on the market today.
This car is built better than anything else I have ever driven in, this South-African built model is even better built than my other car, a German built 230ce.
