1993 Mercury Cougar XR7 review from North America
"A cool set of wheels with awesome reliability and decent performance"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Headlight switch broke off, one light under the digital dash burned out, other than that it has been perfect. The headlight switch was 15 dollars to fix, and the light was going to cost 80, so I thought that I would wait untill another one goes to fix them both at the same time.
General comments?
The Worst economy I have gotten on the highway was 27mpg, and the best I have gotten is 31. That is imperial gallons though. In town I generaly get 17-20mpg. The 5.0HO is identical to the engine in the 90-95 mustang GT's so power is decent. It doesn't have as much punch as it should, so don't expect to beat a mustang, but 0-60 is roughly 8.5 seconds. The interior is fully loaded on my XR7, and very comfortable. Access to the back seat can be tough for bigger people. The look is definitly cool, as girls love my car.
