1989 Mercury Cougar XR7 review from North America
"Excellent"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I have completely rebuild the motor, mostly because I wanted more performance. The only things that have gone wrong before rebuilding were the Alternator went out at about 75,000, the transmission at about 85,000, wiper motor at 110,000, and currently the car is going to be repainted and a rust spot fixed along with a window motor that is about to die. A solid car, and I am not very nice to them I drive very aggressively 1,000's of miles at or above 100mph.
General comments?
Great car at high speeds, over 90 it rides, handles, and overall performs incredibly. I have the 5 speed car and at speed it is not a problem to get almost 30mpg. Not the fastest and not the slowest, it will give the new cars a run for their money as well as some of the old, fun to drive for a big car.
