1978 Mercury Grand Marquis review from North America
"Really BIG car, still runs well"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Car had sat around for years before I bought it and it needed to have parts that deteriorated with age replaced, including:
Heater and radiator hoses.
Brake shoes and pads.
Voltage regulator.
Fuel pump and rubber fuel lines.
Tires.
Could use carburetor rebuild and air conditioning repair.
Vinyl top deteriorated and it was removed and the top painted.
General comments?
Very good handling, old fashioned big car. 400 Engine still runs good even after more than 240,000 miles. Good acceleration and performance once running... it can be hard to get it started when cold, but it could probably use a new carburetor. Original AM-FM radio with 8-track still works. Power seats and windows still working.
