-Ran very little, but was purchased as a restoration project.
-It barely ran, but if you find one it is well worth your time to restore it, I wish I hadn't gotten rid of it.
If you have one (1980-5 Ford Escort or Mercury Lynx) you need to get rid of, email me scottremington2@yahoo.com.
Why would you ever bother to restore an Mercury Lynx?
They are Crappy Cars and so as the Ford Escort which it is the same Garbage.
Well, I guess it could be a lot worse, if you were interested in Restoring Yugos...
Let me get this straight: this was a car that made it a total of six miles, that you yourself rate a 3/10 in reliablity (but a 10/10 in comfort? lol) and finally was widely considered a disposable vehicle even when it was new.
But you consider it worthy of restoring and want someone to sell you one by posting a message here?
Ever heard of autotrader. com or cars.com?
That would be the appropriate site for you to be going to. NOT here.
So many worthy cars out there, and you want to spend your time and money restoring a Mercury Lynx.
Oh, you poor, misguided soul...
I agree, These car were so bad that in 1983 we took a brand new one out on a test drive and the salesman riding with us kept going on about how bad the cars were and couldn't in good conscience sell it to us. They got a little bit better in the late 80's, but not too much better! We ended up buying a 'K'car (Dodge) instead.
Gosh, the poor guy just mentioned that he likes the Mercury Lynx and next thing you know he is accused of knitting booties.
At least he didn't claim that he beat 2 Trans-Ams and a Vette in the six miles he drove his Lynx.
Although giving his email address (apparently with his real name, no less) was probably not the smartest thing to do...
Its probably cheap and easy to restore, though, and they're now hard to find, rare cars. At least he's not a poser who drives Mustangs or Trans ams just to show off.
Whats wrong with you people. If the guy wants to restore a lynx, its his personal prefference. Why do you guys have to dis on him?? He has every right to. and to the person with the previous comment.. how are mustang drivers posers? posers for what? that makes no sense, unless there driving an old 4 cyl thinking they r better than everyone else. Anyway good luck with finding a lynx.
I have one still kicking.20 years old and never replaced anything, but the water pump. 400,000 miles. Very good investment for me. It made me a whole lot mor than the $750.00 I paid for it.
If you want to restore a Lynx or an Escort, why not? Small, Cheap and Reliable. (I use the term reliable very loosely.) I knew someone who had a 1981 Ford Escort and a 1984 Mercury Lynx. They both ran well until someone stole the Lynx and burned it. The Escort packed it in after a few years. This person also delivered papers every day. I always thought their quirks were what gave the car character. Unfortunately, some had too much character.
