2002 Mercury Mountaineer review from North America
"Junk"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Are O/D off light started flashing and found out that are transmission needs to be rebuilt because of a servo piston going bad. The vehicle has 67,700 miles. on it and the transmission specialist told us this is common with this transmission. It will cost us $2,790 dollars and after talking with Ford and the dealership they will not cover any of it.
I contacted the National Traffic and Highway Safety Administration and made a formal complaint. They told me there have only been 39 other complaints on this vehicle. I know after looking at some of these sites and talking to mechanics there have to be hundreds out there so please if you have this vehicle with transmission problems please contact them and make a complaint it only takes 10 to 15 minutes on the phone!
Thank-you.
General comments?
I will never buy a ford again because of my transmission problems. In fact I just found out that Chrysler has lifetime warranty now on there drivetrain. I've never owned a Chrysler before, but I will soon enough.
