2002 Mercury Mountaineer review from North America

Shudder in transmission.

Very slow motor for rear wiper.

Brakes wear unevenly and too fast.

Rear wheel bearings were replaced.

Rear differential was worked on.

ABS sensor had to be replaced.

Seats caused back and sciatic problems.

I think we are lucky because we didn't start having a lot of problems with this vehicle until around 90,000 miles and then all ____ broke loose. We have done nothing in the last few months except put money into this vehicle, then when we realized that it was a lemon and tried to trade it in they would only give us HALF of what NADA or Kelley said it was worth. Still not realizing how bad the transmission problems were going to get we decided to keep it and sell it outright and now I don't know if I can even do that in good conscience. It sounds like the solenoid needs to be replaced ASAP from what I have been reading here and I don't want to put another dime into it before I sell it.

I am also going to physical therapy because the seats in this vehicle have cause back problems.

Aside from all this I have loved this vehicle as it was very useful to us and has lots of creature comforts. I purchased a Honda Civic yesterday and, because of the lack of professionalism of Ford, would never buy a Ford again and will make sure that everyone else hears about it.
