2002 Mercury Mountaineer LX review from North America
"This vehicle is horrible. I should have bought another Toyota"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
1. Transmission replaced at 74,000.
2. Rear hatch cracked where glass is.
3. Hard to shift into reverse or drive.
4. When shifted into park, it rolls before clicking into park.
5. Seats have started to wear badly.
General comments?
I thought this SUV would be nice and safe for my kids, but after owning it for less than 5 months, the transmission went out. The thing is when I bought it, the dealer said that I should get a warranty cause the transmission on 2002 cars starts going about this mileage. Well I couldn't get one cause they didn't offer a warranty on a car with 70,000 miles. Sure enough, it went out, which makes me wonder if they knew it had something wrong, cause they were really pushing me to buy it. So
it cost me $1800 to have the whole thing rebuilt, and now 3 months later after that ordeal it is doing the same thing it was before. I should have checked out the facts about this car before buying it. Now I am in the position where I can't get another car or trade this one in.
