1992 Mercury Topaz XR5 from North America - Comments

"The XR5 is a stock sleeper!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Tie rod ends go more frequently than they should.

Original clutch now needs replacement at 150,000 miles.

General comments?

This is my first car and she has treated me well even when I've not been able to take the best care of her.

The engine/transmission combination and independent suspension make the XR5 a quick and agile handler.

This stock black Topaz with fog lamps, ground effects, 15x7" aluminum alloys and low-profile spoiler turns more heads than I ever expected. The XR5 was made for people who enjoy driving!

I have had a 92 XR5 for about 5 years, and although it uses some oil (no smoke) between changes, it still goes like heck and just loves corners. It is the 3 litre engine.
