1993 Mercury Tracer review from North America
"Still Seems Like New At 235K!!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
A week after after I got the car the battery went.
The check engine light comes on a lot.
General comments?
I traded in my 1988 Buick LaSabre for this car because the transmission was slipping badly.
I did not realize the Mercury's mileage was so high;I assumed it had 132,000 on it because the odometer only registers 5 digits. But when I got the title to it the other day I was surprised to see it actually stated 232,000! (The used car dealer said at the time of purchase he was not sure of the actual mileage.)
Still I do not regret my purchase.
Because of the high mileage I am amazed that it burns no oil, gets great gas mileage and runs so great;you can barely hear it running.
It has never overheated or left me stranded.
And it has lots of power...you'd expect a car with such high mileage to be worn out. I can compare it to Toyotas and Hondas.
The interior is almost like new. Previous owners must have taken care of it.
I would highly recommend the Mercury Tracer to anyone... great car!
