Tie Rod Ends at 80,000
Timing Belt at 72,000.
Very dependable.
Decent fuel mileage (automatic trans).
Noisy at highway speeds.
I agree with your review... the Mercury Tracer is very dependable!
I have owned my 1993 Mercury Tracer for a year now. At 248,338 miles now it's still going strong.
The heater core was out when I bought it. (I bought it from a used car dealer for $1200) But the heater core was not that expensive to repair; $185 for part and labor.
And just a few weeks ago I had the water pump and timing belt replaced because of the high mileage of the car just to be safe. Good thing I did, my mechanic says the timing belt was worn. Total cost: $200.
So not counting oil changes, ect, I have spent a total of $385 in one year on repairs. That's great considering the age and mileage of the car.
It also has the 1.9L engine. Does not burn oil or overheat.
A great car I would recommend to anyone.
