1993 Mercury Villager LS review from North America
"Excellent value for the dollar"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Rear A/C blower ceased too function. After some research online, I've found that numerous Villager owners have the same problem. The relays on the air conditioning control module need to be resoldered. I bybassed the these relays and the rear a/c functions great.
Exhaust manifolds have some leaks, appears to be another Villager problem.
A/C tensioner pulley's bearings are going, makes some grinding noise.
CV axles replaced.
No other problems yet.
General comments?
In need of a second, more versatile vehicle and doing much reseach, and searching, I found this Villager. Even though its got high miles, it been a great performer. I've read many reviews of other Villager owners having over 240,000 miles, on the original transmission/engine. This van isn't a hot rod, but its got plenty of power for 150hp. It rides excellent, no shakes, the a/c will freeze you out even in the Florida mid-summer heat. A few bulbs have burnt out in the dash etc, but with a Haynes repair manual, its easy to fix. I recommend the villager to anyone.
