2001 Mercury Villager Sport plus review from North America
"Inexpensive, but you get what you pay for"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Repeated problems with the power door locks. Manufacturer has Technical Service bullitans out on problem, but no reliable fix seems to exist.
Rack and pinion came loose causing a steering problem.
Very noisy van. Lots of squeaks, and rattles, particularly from the slide open side doors. Doors need constant adjustment.
Poor mileage, A real gas pig!
Poor performance. Engine is a little lacking in acceleration.
General comments?
For the money, it's a descent value. Vehicle has been rely able.
A few trips back to the deler for warranty concerns warranted the extended service plan I bought.
Over $4000.00 worth of warranty repairs made a $500.00 zero dedcuctible 5 year 60,000 mile warranty well worth the money.
My wife loves the van. Given the choice of a new Toyota and keeping the old van, she opted for the van.
