Hi. My wife has a Platinum Silver 2002 MG TF 135. Seems we have a good one after reading all these comments. It has now done 95150 miles.

It has had a cam belt replaced, under floor coolant pipes and has had two sets of brake discs and pads, and two sets of tyres. Apart from the normal routine maintenance, the engine oil and filter are changed every 6 months, and we have had no issues at all.

I have fitted the X power exhaust systems, which makes it sound like a real sports car.

We always make sure that the oil temp is showing about 60 c before accelerating, and whenever we reach our destination let the engine run for a few minutes to help stabilise the coolant temperature. I think this is important, due to the distance between the radiator and the block. I employed this rule throughout my driving career. Even driving my Land Rover Discovery TDi, which has covered 14500ks without missing a beat. My Range Rover 3.9 Litre V8 is at almost at 200.000k. I was trained in the Army as a mechanic, and it was always stressed about letting coolant systems stabilise, I am also a firm believer in preventative. British cars have there problems, I agree you just need to check more often and not thrash them.

I enjoy our TF, and look forward to many more years driving it..
