Summary:

A very enjoyable ride with adaptable performance

Faults:

The dashboard had hairline crack that gradually became worse and finally shattered, this took 4 months to arrange a replacement from the manufacturer.

General Comments:

The car is a very smooth drive, and capable when on the autobahn, it is a pleasure to drive.

Fuel consumption seems a little high although this is probably expected with large estates/large engines.

Plenty of room for young family of four.

Summary:

A reliable and enjoyable alternative to the German sporting estates

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

The handling of the car is exceptionally good.

The ride is very firm (I have the original model with what is now the optional sports suspension) but it remains comfortable even on poor roads and bumps are very well absorbed.

Reliability has been the best of any car I have ever owned.

The automatic box does blunt the performance and is not as user friendly as the "tiptronic" type boxes on some of the rival models.

The sports seats at first seem hard, but once you are used to them are very comfortable. The load carrying capacity is not as great as some others but is fine for me as I mainly carry a dog and the opening tailgate window is great.

Summary:

A smooth high performance sports wagon

Faults:

Gear lever knob came loose.

General Comments:

A fine handler with just the right amount of stiffened suspension. Excellent top rev acceleration.

Screwed together really well and feels the business. Needs some lower down torque (V8?).

V8 rear drive versions of the ZT are on the way. They are a regular sight in Warwickshire where they are being road tested. They are recognisable by their twin exhausts and fantastic V8 noise. Due out in early 2004.

MG ZT-T 135+ Bought this time last year have done 12,000 in the past 13 months. Has been a very reliable and enjoyable car to drive, lots of people admire it especially when in Germany, France, and Switzerland during last summer. Being a diesel (135) excellent performance once you get in 3rd gear upwards, plenty of torque 300 of which come in at 2,000 revs to be precise & will see off most of your 2 litre diesel BMW/Audi/VW in you have the higher 135 engine model. Averages around 40MPG, and 30MPG if you put your foot down. It is also a very good tow car averaged 34 MPG towing over 2,500 mile across Europe last summer, with max torque coming in at 2,000 revs at 60 MPH. Lets hope the Chinese bring it back out here next year as the say they are going to, its already back out on sale in China.
