1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT Stealth RT Twin Turbo review from North America
"Off the chart performance, I eat Mustangs, Camaros and an ocassional Corvette,...the big sleeper"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Everything is maintenance on this car, if you take car of it, it will take care of you.
Since this is a AWD the clutch and transmission are always the weakest point (as with any AWD, since it does slip on the road the transmission is the stress point.
Basic maintenance like spark plugs, fuel filter, spark plug wires are expensive in a shop because of the amount of part removed in such a tightly packed compact design. This is a tougher do it yourselfer than most people are used too. But the looks and performance make up for the extra effort.
Cracked defroster vents, which are a common occurance required removal of the dash to replace. (not a real problem, but costmetically it is something to consider).
Expensive parts... but there is a website that saved me...3sx.com...check it out if you have a Stealth or a 3000 GT (same car).
Seat on driver side wears at a quick rate (normal for aggressively bolstered seat) but again cosmetically it is something to look for)
General comments?
Top of the line...
Looks...most people think it is a Ferrari. It is weird, there were few enough make (for only a few years) that it is virtually unknown. Very exclusive and unusual.
Performance...second to very few, my Twin Turbo will do a 0 to 60 in the low 5 second range with not even a squeak of a tire (no spin), even the fastest new cars have to really push it to beat me, it is faster than my buddy's 1977 Porsche 930 Turbo and that is saying something.
Features...State of the art with AWD, ABS and incredible power from the engine.
