"A reliable second hand bargain"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The passenger seat rattles over bumps and can be difficult to slide forwards and backwards.

Front headlight steams up, but this looks like previous crash damage has affected the seals.

General comments?

Considering the car has only 90BHP it pulls cleanly in any gear with an impressive amount of torque, although I cannot get any better than 34MPG on a mixed journey of motorway and city driving.

The handling is grippy with predictable understeer if pushed, it seems too well damped which does cause pot-holes to be felt, there is a fair amount of road noise transfered into the cabin, but the engine is very quiet.

The interior is a bit boring with a sea of grey plastic, but it all laid out neatly and is easy to use.

Apart for the passenger seat rattling and the difficulty in adjusting it there has been nothing that has gone wrong with this great little car, but hate the standard 13" alloy wheels.

UPDATE - 1 Yr later

Over the past year nothing has gone wrong, there's a few more rattles, but are easy enough to fix yourself, the gearbox has become a little bit difficult to change down to 2nd and 1st, but a gearbox oil change and some "Molyslip" from halfords has helped, still notchy when cold though.

I put 15" alloys with 195*45 rubber on it and has improved grip quite a lot, the trade off was a harsher ride (Explains the increased rattles).

But overall it's still a very reliable cheap to run little car.

I hate the standard 13" alloy wheels too... Is there any place that I can buy new 13" rims for my 1999 Mitsubishi mirage? If anyone knows, please e-mail me and let me know... my e-mail is hillarie_shae1@yahoo.com...Thanks a bunch, Hillarie.
