Timing belt replaced for $1200.
Battery & alternator replaced for $800.
Now clutch is gone $2000+.
Car is a money pit, would not recommend.
It sounds like you got a lemon, however the way the car was driven by the previous owner is a big factor. As for the repair costs, they are way out of line. I paid $450 for a timing belt replacement and the battery and alternator combined should be under $300. You need to find a more reasonable shop for repairs. The prices you quoted are ridiculous.
Those are all maintenance items! The mileage you were at was the recommended time to change the timing belt. As for the clutch, I call operator error. I'll say this however, the alternator and battery shouldn't have gone this soon. But the battery and alternator are really all you should be complaining about.
I don't particularly like Mitsubishi's in general, but it sounds like you got taken by the shop you went to for the repairs to be made! You can't blame the car for that. Besides, all those items you mention are wear and tear items. Therefore, your review is rendered meaningless.
