2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT review from North America
"The Updated Hot-Rod!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing has gone wrong with the car on it's own. Meaning, I put this car to the test! I put the car in reverse and
stepped on the gas squealing tires going
backwards then slamed it in to drive,
and started squealing tires foreward.
I've done that twice and now I have
transmission or driveshaft problems.
It may be possible that the previous owners had the same ideas as me and
did the same thing. So, when I got it, it was already about shot! Or, the transmission doesn't take much abuse.
But, I've talk to the mechanics at the car dealership and he said, "I don't understand it. Mitsubishi is suppose to have a strong transmission."
But, of course I didn't tell him about my little stunt! (Ha Ha)
So, the moral of this story is that some of the parts on your car could be bad when you get it and that you shouldn't beat your car!
General comments?
Speed:The best import you can buy for under 10,000 dollars. Sure, there's faster cars and fancier cars.
But, overall the Mitsubishi Eclipse is the best buy, for the money. I have the Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, 3.0 Litter V6 Engine with dual overhead cams and 24 valves. For a V6 this car has some giddy-up-and-go!
The top speed on my car is 130 mph, 135 down hill. All, stock!! With a little help from upgrades to push your car approxitmaly 50 mph faster, wich would make your car go 180 mph. Well, that my friend would enable you to give a corvette a run for his money!
Interior: The interior has a definate stock interior feel. But, at the same time it has a sleak and somewhat sexy look to it. The seats aren't like caddilac seats, but there still comfortable. Zero room in the back seats unless you like to drive from under the dash! There's like 6 inches of leg room in the back, so unless you have a friend with 6 inch legs don't make him sit in back! Other than that you can't really complain about the interior.
Exterior: Very smooth and sexy. I think it's a smooth looking car and apparently women think it's sexy! I've owned a Nova, Trans Am and a Fiero and I picked up more women in this car in two months out of all the others combined! This is definatly a chick magnet. But, hey it's just a car, it doesn't work miracles! So, being pretty yourself doesn't hurt your chances.
I think the fact that women are drawn to the car says all there needs to be said about the exterior.
