2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT review from North America
"Great combination of a reliable, refined, but still fun car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
In 119000 miles of ownership the only issue I've had with this car was the throw-out bearing at 10,000 miles. The dealership claimed it as a factory defect that a lot of cars were experiencing and replaced the clutch assembly free of charge.
General comments?
I have had this car since Nov. 2001 when it had 11 miles on it. It now has 119000 and I have yet to need to fix anything. Even the routine maintenance has been minimal.
1 clutch/flywheel (65,000 miles)
1 set brake pads (front/rear) (55,000 miles)
1 set front brake rotors (55,000 miles)
spark plugs/wires (80,000 miles)
1 O2 sensor (90,000 miles)
I have owned the car for 5 years and bring it to redline at least once every time out. It's a very quick car, but its weight makes itself known once you get out of first gear and through the turns. It doesn't burn a hint of oil and the only thing I need to look at in the near future is the rear shocks.
