1986 Mitsubishi Galant review from Mexico

Well for an 86, it has been a reliable car. But since the car has a complex electronics engineering makes your wallet beg for mercy.

This was my first car and since the first time I saw it I liked it, the engine looked like new, but since I didn't test drove it (mom did), I couldn't be sure of its "off lot" performance, In short they sold us a mild lemon per-say.

First thing that went wrong was the transmission had a electronic shor-tout, repairs cost about 200 dolls. Then the steering column had some troubles add another 150 dolls. After a few miles the alternator gave out, turns out I had another short-out, repairs 50dlls (new alternator). Water pump replaced, it was making a loud noise, but I thought I was the engine, how wrong was i! add another 70 dolls. The master cylinder died also scary, replaced it on time or would have had an accident; add another 50 dolls. And last, but not least the frontal struts gave out, replacing them new was a bundle so I went to a junkyard found them for 60 dolls (each), and now the compressor stopped working at 130600 miles. That's the last ache. Almost forgot the mounts are faulty also.

Over all the car has great acceleration.

Engine roars for 130+ miles, great handling on curves, you just press the hard button on the electronic control suspension and you feel as the car literaly hugs the curve. Braking is good although it could be better for a 4 disk system. The ride is now a little bumpy since the compressor gave out, but it still runs great, I had a little accident like 6 months after the car was bought, crashed with another Mitsubishi (ironically), damage was minimal, and the car didn't shut down or anything; my moms 86 Oldsmobile died when a dodge ram rear ended her at like 5 mph.

So in short the car is still alive and running hopefully enough for my next purchase.
