1989 Mitsubishi Lancer CA SE review from Australia and New Zealand
"Was a great first car for me"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Muffler (unknown if genuine Mitsubishi) rusted out and broke off from exhaust of vehicle.
CV Joint boots and seals seem to age and crack quickly resulting in leakage.
Gearbox linkages wore and became very loose.
Shock absorbers (unknown if original) are now very soft and will be replaced soon.
General comments?
Car is very low to ground - hit chassis/tow-points on speed humps, kerbing easily.
Very comfortable interior.
Not particularly powerful, but given it's size can travel at decent speed.
Top speed I've done is 160km/h - vehicle seems very light at >140km/h except when loaded with passengers/luggage.
