Automatic Transmission problems
Sometimes thumps into gears and slips gears.
Car had to be reprogramed twice.
The cost of the 100,000km service is very expensive.
Cam, Crank and tappet cover seals replaced at 100,000.
Lash Adjusters replaced at 105,000. Very Very expensive.
My Magna is a very quick and economical car.
I have had the car from brand new and have it serviced every 5-6 mths.
It is hard to say if I would ever get another Magna as most are prone to transmission troubles sometime in there life.
I have been told by my dealership that the newer Magna's don't have the Transmission troubles like the older ones did, but I have heard of a handfull of people that they are starting to get some troubles.
Most of the troubles start around the 4 year mark.
The Lash Adjusters wear out very easy on the Magna's, normally lasting 5-7 years.
They can become very very expensive once the warranty is up!
Trust me, my whole family has Mitsubishi cars, Mainly Magna's from 1995 to 2001.
The V6's need a lot of regular servicing.
Don't put any little minor thing off untill the next service as the Magna's give you no warning something is going to go wrong.
Only a harmless squeak, rattle or ticking noise.
If you ignore it and let it go it could become a nightmare. (Financially)
Hi Mate,
I couldnt agree with your more, My girlfriend actually own a 1995 TS SE Magna, and once it clocked over 100,000 it started to cost us mega $$$$, the tranmission is thumpy, engine blows blue smoke, constantly needs new oil caps (oil pressure too high - hard to fix), ticky engine. The car has always been serviced every 10,000k's as we have owned it from new. I admit the car is nice to drive, but I feel that Mitsubishi need to look at their mechanical package a little better.
Most of the time if there is something minor wrong, get it fixed asap because as you said it will cost you heaps!
