"A worthless piece of crap"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Just about everything. All brakes, transmission, engine, clutch and air conditioner.

General comments?

This car sucks, I hate it.

If the car lasted 7 years then it does not "suck" and as for the 2 on performance you could fix that. Any car is fast if you do work on it.

As for the performance being increased, you might get it to a 3. Either get a MIVEC one or get something along the lines of a 2.0l turbo of the same age or newer. Then you'll get a 8+ on the performance. For similarish pricing without getting an expensive EVO, I suggest a Pulsar GTi R. (Stupid spell checker!)

I agree with that guy, if you really are complaining about performance you might as well go for an Acura Type-R or something along the lines of DOHC/VTEC, otherwise the Mirage for the wieght and engine spec is a pretty good performance car.

I ENJOY MINE >>!

I have a Mirage Coupe (Asti V Jap Import) 1.5L DOHC, while the peformance is far from amazing with 92BHP, it still is not that bad. And as some of the guys above have said - work on it to improve things. I can't afford to insure an Type-R or Evo at the moment!! So improving the Mirage is what I will do - not just for performance, but for enjoyment. Add a good induction kit for starters and you'll notice the extra poke, and then go from there... lowering performance springs, free flow exhaust system - I'm having fun and the car goes more like a sports car now as well!!

I wouldn't complain, try owning an '85 rust-bucket Mirage. If you ask me most of the Japanese models are crap. I found the solution was to buy something a little closer to home or at least something European. I am much happier with my Citroen BX19 GTi.
