1987 Mitsubishi Pajero Short Wheel Base review from Finland
"Reasonable 4WD for little money"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
When I bought it the rear (leaf) springs were slack. Replacing them was expencive, but was worth it.
Changing the timing- and balance shaft belts was a lot of work.
The gearbox main bearings wore out. Repair would have been very expensive, not worth it. If thinking of buying one, be sure the gearbox is OK.
General comments?
Cheap 4WD that's well worth it's price, specially if the gearbox lasts.
Rides better on the road than most 4WDs of it's age, because of independent front suspension. Comfortable enough to be a daily drive.
Not a great off road car, but the front suspension can easily be made more flexible by disconnecting the front sway bar.
