I live in Botswana and drive a 1995 Pajero 2.8 TDi Japanese import. I have done 40,000 km in two years mostly on reasonable to good roads and have taken it into the bush on several occasions on some really bad roads. The only problems I have experienced are a leaking water pump which I replaced, 2 new batteries and a set of tyres. I will need to do the fuel pump soon and the rear coil springs seem a little soft when loaded, but beyond that it has been a fantastic vehicle which is a pleasure to drive and I intend to keep it for a very long time.

My Pajero V43W Injection engine is the best 4 by 4 I could think about. I bought it at 90000KM and it has tackled all the tracks in Kenya during my fieldwork.

I purchased a NH 2.5 lit-re turbo diesel in 2000 with 95oook's on the odometer. It is a great car apart from oil leaks and a reconditioned gear box. My only complaint is that it seems to be to lowly geared. Around town it is great, by the way I live in Australia, but on the open road it is too slow 95 kph equal 3000 rpm, as soon as you take your foot off the accelerator it begins to slow dramatically, even going down steep hills it slows down too much, the car won't roll on. Somebody told me if I changed the differential it may free up a bit, and run at lower revs. Does anybody have this problem?

Hi Guys I am in New zealand, I have a 94 Pajero 2.8L turbo diesel Pajero.

Recently the "A/T Temp" started to glow, it lights up every now and then when driving, anyone have any ideas of what is going on?

I live in Kenya and bought a Pajero V44 Diesel 3-door manual transmission which has basically been a good and reliable car. However, it has recently developed a series of mechanical faults. I had to replace both upper and lower ball joints plus tie rod ends and having done this, am now having to replace the alternator as the car simply broke down one fine Monday morning. In my opinion, Pajeros are good cars, the problem is with doing good repairs and and especially getting the right mechanics and/or information from mechanics when you find a good one, especially here in Kenya.

I live in Vancouver Canada, I just bought a Pajero Diesel 2.5 TD imported from Japan, I hope it will be a good car but!!! I've already had a little disappointing time. The consumption is really bad, it is giving me 6 KM/Liter. I have had the car just a week and I am afraid to start spending money on repairs. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

I will appreciate any help.

The Pajero is still the best 4x4 vehicle in the market.

Maybe I can solve some of the Pajero owners problems.

A/T Temp glow - Check your transmission oil and transmission filter. The v44 is quite heavy for a 2.5 tdi engine, thus it needs a lot of power to move the vehicle, so that's why the fuel consumption is high. Servicing the fuel pump and adjusting the valve will help. If you want to repair for the engine oil leak, please use the original part from Mitsubishi, it's worth it! Especially the oil seal. It will last up more than 5 years and above.

Do you guy know why I know so much about the v44; it's because my engine always causes problem, and I nearly changed to another type of car. But still the Pajero is my loved one. The first owner sucked, and did not know how to take care of this 4x4.

Hi all, I live in Pakistan and I own a 2.8 turbo Pajero. All of you complained about your Pajeros. So I won't step back, I would say it is really hard to maintain a Pajero and it's also costly. But no other vehicle can do what this baby does. It's got power and comfort. I spent a lot of money on my Pajero, but now I'm going send it to the company to get it reconditioned. After which it will be as good as a brand new car, but for little cost. Hope you guys do the same.

I am from Scotland and know of many Pajeros that have done hundreds of thousands of miles with no major problems.

I now live in New Zealand where the Pajero doesn't seem to do that well. The vehicles here appear to be very well serviced, oil and filters every 5000kms.

This had me confused for a while, but I think the reason may be due to the climates.

In Scotland the winter can be harsh and your cooling system has to be kept with a healthy percentage of anti-freeze.

With milder weather in New Zealand, cooling systems are not placed at as high a level of importance during maintenance.

70% of engine failures can be traced back to cooling system faults.

I hope this helps.

Also from Kenya. I bought my 1986 V44 TD a few years back whilst waiting for my Subaru Forester. It never broke down and after 250000Km I sold the car still in perfect running condition. I never bought the Forester as the Pajero was too good. I've just bought another later Pajero instead. You must keep engine coolant (anti-corrosion) in at all times and never just add water. Always change the engine oil regularly with a good multigrade and do regular greasing. The noise is probably a cross-bearing worn out. Handbrake is useless on rear disc brake model and 'groaning' calipers are normal. Great car.
