"An unreliable rust bucket!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Mostly basic maintenance things, such as the brakes, fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc.

Clutch cable snapped (while going downhill luckily).

Engine blew.

Massive rust problems on doors.

General comments?

Most people probably don't know that the Mitsubishi Precis is just a Hyundai Excel in disguise. I haven't heard great things about Hyundais (several friends of mine who have owned them tell me they are garbage) and based on my experiences with this car, I can understand why. Engines just shouldn't die at 91,000 miles. I know many of you might think "maybe the previous owner never changed the oil", but I bought it from a mechanic friend of mine, so I would have to assume he took fairly decent care of it.

Aside from that major problem, the car had issues with rust, and the ride was quite uncomfortable. the seats were tiny and hard, and the car bounced all over the place whenever it hit the smallest bump.

On the positive side, the car got excellent gas mileage. I used the car for an 86 mile round trip commute everyday and only had to fill up the tank with $10 twice a week.
