1997 Nissan 200SX Limited review from Australia and New Zealand
"A Bargain compared to the grey imports"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Nothing.
General comments?
Great car. You Americans have missed out with the 2.4L non turbo, FWD too?? The suspension is set too soft from the factory, particurly the front sway bar. I plan to take it to Whiteline (Aus) soon for F+R swaybars, camber kit and castor changes.
On the power front, 147kw just isn't enough. This car can handle much more. With around 150kw at the wheels, these things are fast and heaps of fun, in the dry.
The interior is nice, and the car gets a lot of looks on the street, including people without an interest in cars.
The fuel economy is great (10L/100kms), despite the need for Premium fuel. I haven't had any reliability problems, but I've only had it 20,000kms. I've chosen to service it myself at 5000kms intervals, and factory the rest.
Why does anyone buy an import like an R32 or 33 Skyline, or any of the Silvia range when this is available at the same price, with service history and cheaper (by far) insurance? A bargain in my opinion.
