1993 Nissan 240SX SE review from North America

"This is a good looking, great handling, inexpensive car that could use a little more power"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The leather has started to tear near one of the seams on the drivers seat.

The power antennae makes a lot of noise when raising and lowering.

One headlight takes a few seconds to pop up when they are first turned on.

General comments?

The 240sx is a pretty fun car for the price, it handles quite well, and is very predictable when approaching the limits of traction.

The front strut and rear multi-link suspension do a good job of keeping the car on line when you encounter a bump mid-corner.

The 240sx has no problem cruising all day at 85-90 miles per hour.

The 240sx handles rain and snow quite well (for a sports car), but it is still a rear wheel drive sports car, and if you abuse the throttle in slippery conditions the tail end can get away from you. I did however two weeks ago, drive over a 4000' pass in Northern California, where there was enough snow to require chains, and I never had any trouble.

Gas mileage is acceptable, about 23 miles per gallon average in my automatic (I wish it was a manual), although I have seen 28 miles per gallon on extended freeway trips.

The interior is quite small for a car of its size. The hand brake lever is always jabbing me in the knee (I am however 6'2" tall), and the rear seats are really more of an upholstered luggage shelf.

The motor gets a little bit winded near redline.

The automatic transmission won't hold a gear all the way to redline unless you force it too with the shift lever, then it will in fact bump into the rev limiter for as long as you want it too.
