"Best all round Japanese performer"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Brakes wore out at 84,000 miles.

Stereo quit working.

General comments?

I have owned a 1994 RX-7, and a 1996 Acura Integra. The 240sx beats these cars hands down. It is the the best performance car I've owned. I had invested large amounts of money into both the RX-7 and the Integra and both have not had the potential of the 240sx.

What? Are you serious? The RX-7's 13B motor has huge potential. The KA24 motor in the 240 has limited power unless you opt for an SR20DET swap. I WOULD choose a 240 over an Integra, but so would any self-respecting import enthusiast. But still, A stock twin-turbo RX-7 is far superior in every way to a stock 240SX.

If you scroll down a bit, it says he has an SR20DET...

I agree with the first replyer on the 1993 rx7 being much better than a 240sx. However, the 13b engine does not have as much potential as sr20det, this is due to its unreliableness (oil seals leak like crazy when modified). The sr20det can withstand hp upgrades on stock internals to about 340hp (when new and about 290-300 or so when older and unrebuilt). While the 13b can handle no more than 40-50hp on stock internals without compromising its already skimp reliability. I would have to argue that the rx7 is probably a much funner car to drive as it is slightly lighter than the 240 and has more hp (especially the twin turbo version) and has a double-wishbone suspension coupled with an overall lower riding height than the 240.

It's not unusual to hear about sr swaps in newer generation rx7s.

Come on you guys can't be serious!!!

The rx-7 is one of the best handling cars out there not to mention the megatons of horsepower it can produce!!

Sr20 are great and all, but the rotary is of a different class if you're gonna compare the silvia with anything it should be a generic FR car. Ask anybody who knows, the rx-7 against any normal FR is no contest!!!

I own a 1993 RX7 R1 and a 1997 240SX SE.

I love the 240, don't get me wrong, but in terms of which has more potential... it has to be the RX7.

There are very few cars that can compete with the rx7 on the track (or streets for that matter),

and most of those cars never came to the USA.

Even with the sr20... it's hands down the RX7.

Guess you'd have to drive the FD to understand.
