1989 Nissan 240SX XE review from North America
"Best bang for the buck, ever"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
R.I.P.
Front right wheel bearing 200,000.
Transmission 165,000.
Seats replaced at 205,000.
Struts still driveable, but creepy at high speeds 205,000.
Head Gasket 203,000 didn't catch it in time so the car overheated 15 times over the course of a semester. However the engine was still running even though all the water in the radiator found its way into my oil. SR20DET swap time.
General comments?
The car right out of the box handles like a dream, however putting in some eibach sportlines and AGX adjustable struts really improved the road holding ability.
The KA24E engine is stout and a beast, it can take a lot of abuse. I like the low-end torque of this motor.
This car would be really comfortable to me if I wasn't 6'3", so I'm not going to slam the interior. Interior has held up quite nicely over 15 years.
Aftermarket support on the s13 is really taking off also, you can put almost anything into the engine bay from aftermarket parts to complete engine swaps.
