1989 Nissan 240SX XE review from North America
"Perfect combination of handling and power for the entry level racer or drifter"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Clutch was slipping when I got it.
Windshield leaked.
Stock speakers blew out.
Clear coat was peeling.
Needed motor mounts and transmission mount.
General comments?
When I got the car the clutch was slipping, so I replaced it with an ACT street kit and pressure plate.
The windsheild leaked due to the windsheild being installed incorrectly, but I fixed it with some silicone.
I also replaced the motor and tranny mounts with polyurethane Nismo mounts. Since I learned to drive 5spd in this car, it definitely needed them.
For a SOHC motor, this car was definitely fast and gave many Hondas and VWs a run including a friends 98 GTI with about $2500 worth of work when all my car had was the ACT clutch.
It handled amazing as well and is the perfect base for a drift or autocross car.
Unfortunately it was rear ended a few weeks ago, but I will be getting another one within the month.
Very cheap and easy to work on and maintain, the KA motors are bulletproof.
