1992 Nissan 240SX SE Coupe review from North America

The car was a lemon when I bought it. The following were problems the car already had:

Blown head gasket and burnt piston ring, smoked like a chimney.

Frame rail rot and rocker panel rust.

Head-Up Display (HUD) and Odometer/Trip odometer not working.

It developed these problems later:

Alternator died ($300)

Crack in the radiator that sprayed coolant everywhere under the hood ($600 for entire cooling system repair, but it needs it. Repair not done, car currently off the road)

I bought the car as a $500 daily driver. I knew it it was a lemon and I couldn't afford to bring it up to decent condition (I wish I did, but I'm a broke college student), but I was desperate for a car and it ran. Despite all the aforementioned problems, and it being an automatic, I loved this car! A car with that many problems shouldn't even start, but it has been very reliable for the one year I owned it until the radiator crack occurred within the last two months. The handling on its old worn-out suspension is still worlds above everything else I've driven, and it could still blast past Civics and Integras with all its engine damage. I've driven other 240SXs, even one with close to 300k miles on it, and they've been nothing, but reliable for their owners. I think I just got a bad one. Its hard to find a decent 240SX in New England since the snow wreaks havoc on their undercarriages. I just wish I had more time to go looking for one. I will own another at later date, but for now I will (sadly) part with this unique automobile.
